Adolescence is a unique time in life, when an entirely new set of circumstances emerges. The impact of changes on ones body, mind and emotions, the formulation of new types of relationships, the struggle between dependence and independence, as well as a variety of other challenges, all may occur. To support these stressors, a particular kind of sensitivity is needed, and alternatives to traditional therapies, such as art therapy, can be quite beneficial.
Talk can certainly be part of the process, yet at times these transitions are better served through the use of art making, the creation of story, along with other creative and alternative explorations.
With over 10 years of experience working with children, teens and emerging adults, I am uniquely qualified to understand and support teens during this powerful, dynamic and challenging time in life.
